Welcome to VIVAIDS

VIVAIDS is a statewide membership based organisation of drug users. Our membership is made up of current users, ex users and people whose aim is to increase information and education about illicit drug use so that people who take drugs do so with minimum harm to themselves.

We also seek to improve the way people who take drugs are treated by medical, community and government services and to increase the awareness in the general community, about issues relating to illicit drug use.

VIVAIDS is funded through government grants to increase the knowledge and understanding amongst drug users about blood borne viruses, overdose and other issues of concern about illicit drug use. For further information on the support we offer, please refer to Our Services on this website.

VIVAIDS Hepatitis C (HCV) Peer Education Program divides its time between 2 main areas: identifying opportunities to promote education and information about hepatitis C for drug users and professionals who work with drug users in the community, and VIVAIDS’ involvement in the Healthy Liver Clinic at Turning Point (TP) Alcohol & Drug Centre. Overdose Prevention
The deaths from heroin overdose are still on a steady decrease, that could be due to the quality of the heroin around or it could be due to the fact that drug users in Victoria have been getting accurate up to date information for the last 9 years from other drugs users through the VIVAIDS DOPE (drug overdose prevention education) Project.
